The Social Task Force

The neighborhood social staff accompanies residents from the beginning of the planning process throughout occupancy.

The support focuses on increasing household income through rights realization, debts settlements and employment advancement. In addition, the team works to build community leadership and participation and strengthen the neighborhood’s resilience.

General Information About the Neighborhood Today

  • Ranked 2 out of 10 on the socio-economic index of the Central Bureau of Statistics (Israel).
  • 65% of neighborhood residents are families of Ethiopian origin, many families immigrated in the past decade.
  • An average of 10 years of education, 12% hold an academic degree.
  • 53% of neighborhood residents earn less than the minimum wage.
  • Despite proximity to the border with the Gaza Strip, apartments do not have compliant safe rooms, and a large portion of the shelters are not accessible to residents during an alarm.
