The Social Task Force

The neighborhood social staff accompanies residents from the beginning of the planning process throughout occupancy.

The support focuses on increasing household income through rights realization, debts settlements and employment advancement. In addition, the team works to build community leadership and participation and strengthen the neighborhood’s resilience.

General Information About the Neighborhood Today

  • The neighborhood was established in the 1950s for new immigrants from the transit camps (Maabarot).
  • Since its establishment, it has served as the first home for immigrants from India, Iran, Ethiopia, the Soviet Union and more.
  • No new housing units have been built in the neighborhood since its establishment.
  • The neighborhood is ranked 3 out of 10 in the Central Bureau of Statistics’ socio-economic index. Home to about 600 families.
  • More than 50% of the residents live in public housing owned by the Amigur company.
  • 80% of the residents earn below the average wage.
  • A high percentage of residents aged 65 and over, 57% of whom are in financial difficulties.
